Three new lines of microphones from Universal Audio
Universal Audio, following the acquisition of the Bock Audio brand in 2020 and the Townsend Labs brand in 2021, is now entering the microphone industry in style with three different lines of transducers. The first two lines are directly derived from the recent acquisitions: UA Bock Series Microphones and Sphere L22 Modeling. The third line, the first to be available and UA-branded, now includes the SD-1 Standard Dynamic and SP-1 Standard Pencil Microphones.
The American company founded by Bill Putnam in 1958 is one of the world’s leading brands in the professional audio field and now with the production of microphones it is further expanding its already rich range of recording products.
The first product made available by Universal Audio is the SD-1 Standard Dynamic Microphone. SD-1 is Universal Audio’s new dynamic microphone perfect for live or studio recording, with cardioid polar pattern, selectable switches for “low cut” and “articulation boost”, plus various Channel Strip presets for Apollo to quickly achieve optimal performance . With the SD-1 Standard Dynamic Microphone you can shoot vocals, instruments, livestreams, and podcasts with professional performance, quickly achieving brilliant studio sound ready for airing. The SD-1 delivers studio-quality sound and style wherever recording takes place. It is tailor-made for speech and close-miked vocals, with a simple dynamic design that rejects background noises such as fans and other external interference.
You can reduce rumble and noise in recordings with the SD-1’s selectable low-cut filter. By activating the articulation boost switch, voices and instruments will be instantly emphasized with more presence. Apollo’s custom presets for the SD-1 microphone allow you to have the best possible configurations in seconds, through the “radio-ready” EQ and compression settings for vocals, guitars and broadcasts. With an elegantly modern design and rear-mounted XLR socket for easy wiring, the SD-1 will instantly raise the overall quality level of your production environment. Whether it’s music, podcasts, livestreams, or Zoom meetings, your new home studio microphone is here. SD-1 is internally equipped with shockmount and windscreen (anti-wind, anti-pop), in this way both recordings and livestreams will automatically be cleaner, with less environmental noise and less external interference.
